MMX Drawing example

 MMX is abbreviation of Mechanical Matrix loudspeaker system, which was described in the previous blog article. Without hearing an example system, it will be difficult to imagine its sound field.  I noticed that installing speaker drivers both L and R channel to same chamber makes stereo effects more than ten year ago. It was a test model for MCAP-CR application. Primary focus was to verify if thin film bottle could substitute for speaker driver membrane. The answer was "no"; however, it was found thin film bottle can be used as MCAP-CR subchamber. This system has both L and R drivers in the main wood chamber. I was curious about stereo effect, though L and R were installed closely. I recently tested above effect with 8" full-range drivers (photograph below). This model has two (L & R) FE206E frivers in same chamber. Real sound field effect was given by this system in big room. New MCAP-CR Performance Simulator is now available!

 New MCAP-CR Performance Simulator was uploaded to following site: http://mcap-cr.com/mcap/software.html New simulator is written with OpenOffice BASIC code and distributed as international standard spreadsheet format(*.ods). Use free OpenOffice or LibreOffice to open this file. You may need to change security setting: it is described in the attached document with the simulator file. You can click and execute the program and soon graphic chart is shown. Program execution is a little bit slow but probably maximum execution time is 10 minutes. Please enjoy MCAP-CR system development with the new simulator. It will greatly help the design verification. Ciao!

My blog update of this page is too few. I have been updating my Japanese blog every day for recent years, but updating this English page takes more time, I feel reluctant. Recently I am building a new 4" class MCAP-CR system. Here is the drawing of the newest system. I recently pursue the simplest and the cheapest applications. This model requires least pre-cut of a plywood. Size of the plywood material is 1920 x 910 x 9. Most loudspeaker enclosure builder prefer heavy gauge woods. On the other hand, I prefer light gauge materials. Why? I do not own a car, therefore I have to transport materials by public transportation. I will again update this blog when I made the system.

About MCAP-CR patent

I have been disclosing every detail of information of multiple-degree of freedom cavity resonator theory and applications since I applied patent to Japanese patent office. Now my friends became to use loudspeaker systems of MCAP-CR applications. I have just a few inquiries about commercial use of the patent. One was Dream SounD in France. I helped him to develop his multiple degree of freedom models for free. I wanted many people to listen to the multiple-degree of freedom cavity resonator system. It interests me more than small money by the patent. I was really sorry to have heard of his death with cancer. It shocked me a lot. I would like manufacturers to use my models and software for their development. And I would them to tell me that they would like to use it for commercial purpose. I believe multiple-degree of cavity resonator system, especially MCAP-CR,  solves the biggest problems of single degree of freedom standard bass-refrex systems You now get improve...

Though it does not apply to some countries, but my copyright is protected. When I am asked for the use of the patented idea, I always allowed to use for free with the following conditions: Patent information and permission by the patent holder is noted. Now GUI software reloaded

Pure Audio from Poor Audio

I recently devote myself to poor audio. I recognized that the most important thing of the audio hobby is technology. Important information is found everywhere around usual life. UP4D technology was found from poor audio trial. Limited materials like rough woods limited enclosure design, driver layout, size and so on. It made me realized the advantage of unparallel driver layout. Now I am trying the next UP4D application. I try UP4D cavity resonator system. Previous one was pipe resonator. Cavity resonator system is somewhat advantageous for size and shape compared with pipe resonator. Now I will incorporate pipe resonator with cavity resonator. I will see what it can.

Real Giant...!!!!

This is the real giant. It is the first ever commercial product of multiple-degree of freedom cavity resonator type loudspeaker system! She is the president of DreamsounD where my friend devotes himself for true high-fidelity music presenter loudspeaker system. You will imagine how big it is! She is not a dwarf. Once my friend wrote to me since he got interested in MCAP-CR. He had other multiple-degree of freedom cavity resonator project. I helped him for a little bit analysis part. He was really much impressed with the performance of the model. He wrote to me that he had never experienced such presence of music with the new system. I wish I could hear it. RRESTRICTION OF FILE SIZE OF THE WEBSITE

I recently noticed that the single file size is limited to only 250kB by FC2 free website. Therefore, some simulation program files were deleted by server. I have to find how to avoid this restriction. I know that standard paid service can avoid this restriction; however, I do not get any money from this research! I want to use free web service, unless there comes any sponsor... I feel sad research does not make money...

New Simulator Release

How are your holidays? New simulator is just released. Latest simulator runs a number of simulation cases at the same time. You can just add some volume to certain chamber or adjust duct size a little bit and estimate where the best design is. Just try. It is easy. Manual is included in the package. Do you enjoy Christmas holidays? I wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I noticed that this blog has not been updated. I would like to resume Field Presenter Application in January. I have been struggling with the MCAP-CR simulator. It is a CUI version, but CUI version is more important simulator than GUI version. I added new feature to the DFT version simulator. Last one required users lots of executions, because it can handle only one simulation case. Next version will be able to handle a number of simulation cases. It made me easier to find effects of chamber volume, duct size variations to frequency responses. I am sure it will help designing not only MCAP-CR simulators but also double-bass-reflex.

I have been studying dynamics of moving masses for multiple-degree of freedom cavity resonator applications. It is interesting, because (I have seen) no study about multiple-degree of freedom model. It is not too much difficult like continuum mechanics. Therefore, I could have developed simulator programs of multiple-degree of freedom models. On the other hand, pipe resonator model is continuum mechanics model, so that it requires another technique to develop simulator models. It is true that just calculating characteristic frequencies of pipe resonator is easy; however, using calculation formulas, we do not know exact behavior of a cavity resonator application. I will not study pipe resonator model for a time being. The reason why I adopted pipe resonator for the field presenter application was not to compensate low frequency response, but to realize slim body. Here is the concept of UP4D (UnParallel 4-Direction) field presentation loudspeaker system. There are four drivers in each channel and each driver faces different direction, and height of each driver is different each other. Left channel and right channel are symmetrical. First application was pipe resonator system. Pipe resonator is advantageous to configure slim shape. This "slim" structure may be the most important factor for field presentation system. New field presentation loudspeaker system consists of 4 drivers per each channel. Price of one driver was just 200JPY. 200JPY corresponds to 1.74USD (1USD=115JPY). Size of the driver was nominal 7cm (smaller than 3 inches but greater than 2 inches). The reason why I chose this driver was that the price was reasonable enough. Fostex drivers cost ten times or greater. With these cheap drivers, the new field presentation loudspeaker system impressed enough. I felt it was more than loudspeaker system. It would be something else than being a loudspeaker system. Every acoustic source I chose made sound field if I were in a small concert hall..... I lost word. To be continued.

I recently tried an application of field presentation loudspeaker system. It was a lot more than I had expected. Some group of music mania will be amazed at performance of this application and will realize that traditional approach may have been somewhat wrong... I decided to concentrate on field presentation applications and continue reporting to my Blog. to be continued...

Friend in France

Hello. I am trying to analyze new architecture of multiple-degree of freedom cavity resonator system. It is proposed by my friend in France. My program code has been almost complete for single-case analysis. I will add automatic multiple-case simulator feature to the CUI version program code later. What I am interested in is how the new architecture. What I found up to now are Any multiple-degree of freedom cavity resonator system has advantages than traditional single or double bass-reflex systems. Most important advantage of multiple-degree of freedom system for small driver is that it adds considerable amount of pressure wave of low frequency range. Most important advantage of multiple-degree of freedom system for middle or larger driver is that it removes strong character of not preferred harmonics of low frequency range.  There are more advantages. I am interested in #3 advantage. My friend had already made commercial models of multiple-degree of freedom systems...

Challenge to new multiple-degree of freedom cavity resonator system

Hello dear, I seldom update my blog... I am now challenging for new multiple degree of freedom system with my friend in France. He will release some interesting systems. There have not been many updates of my research. I have some more updates in my native Japanese pages. I was convinced that my simulator model code003 can simulate the behavior of MCAP-CR system. It was demonstrated in the presentation of Research Institute of Loudspeaker and Related Technologies last year ( link in Japanese ). Here is what I presented in the meeting for dynamic simulation procedure below figure. My friend also presented electrical simulation model of the same system with measurement result in the same meeting: See the shape and frequencies of peaks.
